Thomas Reid Shugart

Mr. Thomas Reid Shugart age 80, of Apison, TN, passed away on Friday, November 26, 2021.

Mr. Shugart was born in Cleveland, TN, on February 25, 1941, the son of the late John Reid Shugart and Clarice Carter Shugart. He proudly served in the United States Army and belonged to the 101st Airborne Army Division. Mr. Shugart retired from Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department as Captain after thirty-five years of service and prior was a State Trooper for the State of TN. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, Cleveland Pistol Club, and Police Brothers Association. Mr. Shugart enjoyed playing golf and holds course record at Creeks Bend Golf Course. He loved animals especially his horses and dog, Max. Also, he enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, being with his friends at Doctor Dave’s Services, and was an avid shooter.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Shugart, to whom he was married on June 19, 1992 and a sister, Anne Galbraith. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews also survive.

Graveside and interment services will be held Thursday, December 2, 2021, at 11:00 A.M., Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
