Ret. Major James L. Boone

USAF Ret Major James L Boone, 88, of Apison, TN, went home to be with our Lord, while surrounded by his loving family, on October 4, 2021.

Born in Lyford, Texas, James served in the USAF for 23 years, until he retired here in Chattanooga. After retiring he obtained an Associates degree in Civil Engineering. He was employed by Mississippi Valley Structural Steel, Hensley Schmidt, CTI and Downs Engineering, where he was project manager for the surveying department.

James was a very selfless man, that gave unconditional love and was liked by everyone who he came in contact with. He always told us at gatherings or holidays that he has had a wonderful life and family he was very proud of and that was all he needed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and O.T. Boone; Daughter in law, Marsha Boone; Brother, Dan; and Son in law, Eddie Tallent.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Barbara Boone of Apison, TN; son, James L. Boone, Jr (Diane) of Pikeville, TN; Daughter, Chandra Tallent of Apison, TN; Grandsons, James Boone Murfreesboro, TN, Andrew (Kandis) Boone Atlanta, GA; Aaron Boone Loretto, TN, Trey (Keri) Tallent, Ringgold, GA; Granddaughter, Courtney (Ryan) Burdett East Brainerd,TN; Great Grandchildren Presley Wysong, Cash Burdett and Crue Burdett all of East Brainerd and many nephew, nieces, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, October 16, 2021 in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens South with full military honors.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Boone, Trey Tallent, Ryan Burdett, Matthew Wysong, Larry Ellis and Harold Stewart.
