Maxine Born Spector, 89 of Chattanooga, TN, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at her home with her family by her side.

Maxine grew up in the Rossville area and then moved to Winchester, KY with her husband, Bill Cantrell and their three daughters, and resided there for several years.  After returning to the Chattanooga area, Maxine was employed and Dave L. Brown and Valley Supply as a Bookkeeper.

She was a member of Women in Construction, the Eastern Star and various other organizations.  Maxine was of the Baptist faith and attended South Seminole Baptist Church for many years.  She was married to Marvin I. Spector and associated with the Kleen-A-Matic Dry Cleaners.  Maxine and Marvin enjoyed attending Shriner dances and traveling the world.  They lived a happy life together.  She was known as “MamaMax” to all who knew her and famous for her hospitality, cooking, baking and making her famous pimento cheese and homemade banana nut bread.   Socializing with her friends was her favorite thing to do.  Maxine was very kind hearted and willing to help those who needed it.

Maxine was preceded in death by her loving husband, Marvin I Spector; parents, Samuel Ed Born and Ollie Elizabeth Born; sister, Patsy Sewell and three brothers, Jack Ed Born, Billy Wayne Born and Darrell Born.

Survivors include her three daughters, Bethe (Mike) Pope, Pam (Jerry) Ransom and Morgan (Allen) Baugh; grandchildren, Lindsay (Chris) Pendergrass, David (Jamie) Pope, Garrett (Haley) Baugh, Sarah (Ross) Keasler and Allie Robertson; great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Ben Pendergrass and Emma and Grayson Pope; siblings, Carolyn (Jim) King, Dosha Blalock and Jeani Wolfinbarger, all of Chattanooga.

A private graveside service will be held with Dr. Bill Owens officiating.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Hearth Hospice for their love and care.

Per the current health situation and mandate of the Hamilton County Mayor, visitors must adhere to all CDC guidelines, including social distancing and the wearing of facial coverings for visitation and services.
