Mary Ilagene “Jean” Murray, age 81, of Chattanooga passed away at home while surrounded by her loved ones on January 6, 2020.

She was born April 6, 1938 in Chattanooga to the late Rev. I. H. and Annie Viola Moore.

Jean retired after 40 years of service in the office of First Centenary United Methodist Church and was a member of Morris Hill Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Harold Eugene Murray; son, Marty Murray; sister, Mina Carlisle.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-love, Scott and Michele Murray; brother, Robert (Peggy) Moore, and her sister, Patricia Woods; her best friends, Carolyn Hawkins, and Dreama Dean; and Nanny to her seven grandchildren, Brandon (Kayla) Murray, Ashlen Murray, Tiffany Murray (Nick), Kayla (Sam) Anderson, Daniel Mroz, Jacob Mroz, and Nathan Mroz; three great-grandchildren, (soon to be four) Eloise Pickett, Aiden Murray, and Reagan Murray; several nieces and nephews. She was loved by all.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 9, 2020

at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East, with Rev. Ted Smith officiating.
