Kate Randolph

November 28, 1931 ~ August 8, 2020 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Tribute

Annie Kate (McEver) Randolph walked through Heaven’s gates on August 8, 2020.  She was born on November 28, 1931, to Edgar. L. (E.L.) and Minnie McEver in Athens, Tennessee.

Annie Kate, lovingly known as Kate, Mom, and Nana, grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee, with her older brother, Edgar, and her younger sister, Truly.  Kate lost her mother at a very early age and her father took over raising the three McEver children.  Kate was very close to her father and considered him her buddy through the years.

Kate met the love of her life, Wayne Richard Randolph and they were married on August 30, 1953.  Over the next 53 years, Richard and Kate raised three sons, Donald Wayne, Gary Richard, and Danny Eugene Randolph.  Kate and Richard were dedicated servants to Christ and served at Morris Hill Baptist church where her father and Richard both served as Deacons.  Kate taught WMU and Ladies Bible Class for many years.   She was also a member of the Morris Hill Choir.  Her sons will laughingly tell you that Kate never hesitated to get up in the middle of church, walk out of the choir loft and stop any shenanigans that they might have been involved in during the service.  In addition to her sons, Kate molded many young lives, wiped lots of noses, and taught numbers and ABC’s as a teacher and director of the Morris Hill Pre-school for 50 years.   During these years, she watched her own family grow as her sons got married and then welcomed a total of 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren through the years.  Kate loved adventure and was always willing to try new things.  She especially loved to travel and in her later years, she traveled to see Niagara Falls and took a cruise to Alaska.  Not too long ago, right after having hip surgery, Kate was the first to sign-up and attend a pool party hosted by Regency House.  She loved to be on the go and she was looking forward to this last trip where she would meet her heavenly Father and all those who left before her.

Kate was preceded in death by her mother and father (E.L. and Minnie), her brother, Edgar, her sister, Truly, and her husband, Richard.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son Donald Wayne Randolph and wife, Saundra, of Cleveland, TN; son Gary Richard Randolph and wife, Kendall, of Chattanooga, TN and son Danny Eugene Randolph and wife, Nancy, of Lake Jackson, TX.  She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren:  Candice Allen (Jason), Ashley Lacy (Justin), Justin Randolph (Britni), Austin Randolph (Caitie), Nathan Randolph (Lauren), Aaron Randolph (Briana), Samantha Randolph, Travis Randolph, Cole Randolph, and Allie Randolph.  Her great-grandchildren include Brayden Lacy, Waylon Randolph, Addison Lacy, Brooks Allen, and Mia Randolph.

The family would like to thank her caregivers at Regency House in Hixson, TN and her hospice care team, Sharron and Jenni.
