Jerry Don Thomas

Jerry Don Thomas, 83, of Ooltewah passed away Sunday, November 27. 2022 in a local hospital.

A resident of Hamilton County for the past 57 years, Jerry retired from the Honor Course.

He was a member of New Heights Baptist Church and also held memberships with the Carpenter’s Union #754, past master at the Ooltewah Masonic Lodge #741, and past patron at the Ooltewah OES #365.

Jerry was an avid gardener and was a veteran of the US Army.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Sue Matthews; and brother-in-law, Ronnie Blevins.

Survivors are his wife of 59 years, Myra Blevins Thomas;  son, Shane Thomas, Ooltewah;  brother, Gerald Thomas, New Hope, TN;  sister-in-law, Sue Blevins, Jasper, TN;  brother-in-law, Jimmy D. Blevins, Stevenson, AL;  nieces & nephews,  Heath Blevins, Heather Blevins Collins, Jay Blevins, Tina Rich, Terry Woodfin, and Tim Matthews.

Services will be held Thursday, December 1st at 1 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dan Hamby and Rev. Tom Phillips officiating and Jerold Johnson delivering the eulogy.     Burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East with Heath Blevins, Jay Blevins, Bert Gilliam, Travis Cobb, Jim Hamilton, and Mark Holloman serving as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Faithful Shepherd’s Sunday school class.

Memorial contributions may be made in Jerrys memory to New Heights Baptist Church Building Fund, 158 Ooltewah Ringgold Rd, Ringgold, GA 30736

The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 30th from 5-8 PM at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Road with a masonic service to be held at 8 pm
