Glenn Edward Herald

October 20, 1954 ~ November 20, 2019 (age 65) 65 Years Old

Tribute

Glenn E. Herald, 65, of Chattanooga passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, November 20, 2019. The shock of his death has caused profound sadness, to say the least. Yet, recalling his infectious and unrivaled spirit, we will always remember our friend, who had a distinctive style unlike any other.

Born October 20, 1954 in Irvine, Kentucky to Paul and Barbara Herald. A true Kentuckian by birth, his blood ran loyal and thick to the Blue, but Chattanooga quickly became the place he proudly called home after moving here in 2007. Having been in the wine and spirits business his entire professional career in and around the Kentucky area; Glenn was recruited by Andy Cox and moved to here to join Empire Distributing where he served as Vice President and General Manager. Making this city his home, he walked with his head high, taking pride in being a part of other’s hard work leading to success and the betterment of numerous businesses in Chattanooga.

Transcending well beyond business, Glenn was the first one to stand behind and support one’s passion, offering all the guidance and wisdom he could. He made friends everywhere he went, from his employees, current and former elected officials, to the many bartenders and waiters that served his products. He was empowering, intentional, fearless of judgement and truly an unrivaled presence. Many of the infectious and unforgettable qualities include his dry humor, quick wit, basso voice with a deep eastern Kentuckian flair and his s*** eatin’ grin.

Uncomfortable was an adjective unfamiliar to Glenn. He thrived in the element of potential and growth. A man of honor, of integrity. A mentor. A father. A beloved husband to his Bug, Terri Trotter. An irreplaceable friend. The numerous individuals he had quickly touched near and dear, who wish nothing but many, many more years, feel shorted. His opportunity to continue making a larger than life impact fell too short. He was loved by all and will be dearly missed and forever remembered.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Herald; step father, Jack Crawford, and brother, William Herald.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Terri Trotter Herald of Chattanooga;  mother, Barbara Crawford, Lexington, KY; daughters, Hannah (Brian) Harshman, Charlotte, NC and Mattie Herald; son, Josh (Meredith) Herald; all of Lexington, KY; mother of his children, JoLynn Herald;  grandchildren, Shepherd, Sawyer, and Magnolia Harshman, all of Charlotte; brother, David (Jenny) Herald; nephews, Drew, Grant (Kari), and Trevor Ballard all of Lexington, KY.
