Frank (Sonny) Walter Kilgore, Jr.

Frank Walter Kilgore, Jr. “Sonny” age 73, of Apison, TN, passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021.

Mr. Kilgore was born in Chattanooga, TN, on August 20, 1948, the son of the late Frank Walter Kilgore, Sr. and Ella Mae Simpson Kilgore. Sonny was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for eleven years. Sonny retired from Linde Corporation after thirty-six years and currently employed with Golden Eagle Transport (FedEx). He was a member of ChristWay Community Church.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Linda Kight Kilgore; four sons, Breeland (Alisha) Kilgore, Cleveland, TN, Justin (Leslie) Kilgore,Apison, TN, Adam (Jessica) Kilgore,Harrison, TN, and Marcus (Heather)  Kilgore, Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Cody McJunkins, Ian Kilgore, Curtis Rzeplinski, Anna “Bug” Kilgore, Caleb Rzeplinski, Blake Kilgore, and Kaleb Kilgore; and siblings, Dorothy Akins, Hixson, TN, Evelyn (Harold) Nelson, Ringgold, GA, June (Rusty) Desmith, Rock Spring, GA, Sheila Long, Ringgold, GA, and Jonathan “JJ” (Jill) Kilgore, Chattanooga, TN; many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at 11:30 A.M. at ChristWay Community Church with Rev. John Parker and Pastor John Waters officiating. Interment will follow at 1:30 P.M.at the  Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.

In lieu of flowers ,the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to Southern Bible Methodist Connection of Churches, 40 Skyview Lane, Pell City, AL 35125.

The family will receive friends on  Monday, October 25th from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, TN and Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until the service hour at ChristWay Community Church.
