Foster Van Dyke Johnson, 74, of Cleveland, died on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at a Chattanooga hospital. 

He was born on November 24, 1944, in Chattanooga, to Abraham Malone Johnson and Charlotte Lively Johnson. Foster graduated from Brainerd High School, Georgia Tech and the University of Alabama, where he received a Master’s Degree in Engineering. He was highly intelligent, with a wide variety of interests, and was a champion boxer in high school and college. Foster loved politics and had a great sense of humor. He specialized in validation engineering and did contract work in the nuclear power industry.

He is survived by his children, Lori Johnson, Wendy Coultry and Master Sgt. William R. (Magy) Coultry; grandchildren, Tristan Bodine and Justin, Christopher and Rachel Johnson; four great-grandchildren; brothers, James M. (Debbie) Johnson and Richard Johnson; niece, Linda Johnson and nephew, James C. Johnson; sister-in-law, Tami (Rick) Williams; many cherished cousins and his dogs, Yogi and Sparky.

A graveside service will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, March 27, at Forest Hills Cemetery.
