Faye Marie (Grubb) Lawson

Faye Marie Grubb Lawson, 84, of Chattanooga, passed away October 19, 2021 at Elmcroft Memory Care on Gunbarrel Road.

She was born in Cleveland, TN to Fenton and Elba Oldham Grubb.

A longtime resident of Chattanooga, Mrs. Lawson graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville with an Education degree.  She taught school for a few years at LFO High School and Cloud Springs Elementary.

Her love of learning spanned her entire life and covered many varied interests. 

Acquiring the love of flying form her father, she became a pilot and flying her airplane solo was a highlight for her.  Faye was an avid reader and traveler and visited many countries around the world.  She was always ready for a challenge or a new adventure.

She was a member of Brainerd Hills Baptist Church and taught the Ladies of Grace Sunday School Class as long as her health allowed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fenton and Elba Grubb; and her husband, Cecil W. Lawson.

Mrs. Lawson is survived by her cousin, Barbara Burns and her children; Tracy (Robert) Petty, Brent Burns, Jerris Burns, and Jennifer (David) Quarles;  nieces, Deborah (JP) Nation, Lora (Doug) Weaks;  nephew, Tim (Sheila) Lawson; and many other extended family members.

Faye will be remembered for her spunky and feisty personality.  She will always hold a special place in the hearts of her family and friends through wonderful memories they have made together through the years.

A special thank you to ALL of the staff at Elmcroft on Gunbarrel Rd. and Hearth Hospice, especially Lauren, for your loving care of our Faye.

A graveside service will be held Friday, October 22nd at 10 am at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
