Eugene "Gene" Allen Broome

Eugene (Gene) Allen Broome, 91, of Chattanooga went home to be with the Lord on September 15, 2021.

A longtime resident of Chattanooga, Mr. Broome retired from Plumbers & Steamfitters Local #43 after more than 40 years of service.

He was presently a member and deacon at Ridgedale Baptist Church, and was formerly a member and deacon at South Seminole Baptist Church.

He held membership with the East Ridge Masonic Lodge #755 and was a veteran of the US Army.

He was an avid woodworker, cook, pilot, scuba diver and enjoyed traveling.

He will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and “Papa” to all that knew him.

He is survived by the love of his life; his wife of 70 years, Pat Black Broome;  children, David (Joan) Broome, Chandra (David) Smith, and Allen (Melissa) Broome,  all of Chattanooga;  7 grandchildren, Andy (Francie) Broome, Lauren (Jim) Beihoffer, Phillip (Andrea) Smith, Zachary Smith, Adam (Holly) Smith, Carter Broome, and Griffin Broome;  13 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 24th at 12:30 pm in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Bill Owens officiating.  Burial will follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Andy Broome, Phillip Smith, Zachary Smith, Adam Smith, Carter Broome, and Griffin Broome  serving as pallbearers.
